When life seems hard we often try to cope by creating delusions about ourselves, those around us and the world in general. We find ways to avoid seeing things that are in fact obvious. While it helps us cope, it brings many other problems to our life. How do we then turn to see life as it really is and still remain positive? One of my best articles yet!! Archetypes are shared mental patterns derived from social roles of our ancestors. How can we use them to gain a better understanding of ourselves and learn to use archetypes to help acheve our goals in life? Fear is an important emotion that helps us recognise when we are in danger, but all to often we allow our fear to work against us allowing us to avoid facing parts of ourselves we would wish to hide. How do we work with our fear, so it can be our ally? A Human Map We know what a map of a piece of land looks like, and we use it to gain much useful information about the land. What would a map of a person look like and what might we learn from it? This map of a person looks at four domensions to a person, the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Responsibility. If we have free will, life cannot be predetermined and we cannot be in full control of what happens in our lives. We nevertheless can take responsibility for our lives and still achieve our goals in life. Coping with Despair Embracing our despair rather than trying to avoid it allows us to move beyond our suffering to experience the reality of our being. Reincarnation What is life after death like. I believe we do survive physical death, but the nature of that existence is not as most people who believe in an afterlife think. Violence Violence is a misguided attempt to bring unity in our lives; not by forming relationships, but by forcing others to be as we would like them to be. Violence tries to unite by misusing power, compassion unites through love. The Courage to be Compassionate Anger is important but if it is not expressed positively. If we have the courage to channel our anger correctly, compassion arises.
