Welcome

Now that I have started this newsletter with up dates of what I am doing, I will not continue with my "recent news" page.

I did not get many responses either way from my first mailout, so I hope everyone will be happy if I send out the newsltter unless I get a request not to. I hope that is not a problem for people.

What have I been up to?

Gore in the snowI am running a Short Rehabilitation Programme in Invercargill for my work, which means being in Invercargill from Sunday night until Thursday night for about five weeks. I will stay with my friend Alan (Check out my bubble page). I took this photo driving through Gore on the way south.

I have completed a website update with new colours and layout. Next is my complexity website...

I am standing for the position of president of the local theosophical Society in Dunedin. There are many exciting possibilities of what we can achieve, but it would certainly keep me busy. I have also been aksed to do more speakeing tours for the Theosophical Society.

Best of the Net

How Kevin Bacon Cured  Cancer   is a most amazing documentary about Network Theory, which is a very important part of complexity Theory. It is very simple and easy to understand, but also gives depth into how such varied parts of our world like the internet, the spread of a virus, the power grid, airline line links, fireflies and so much more are all linked by the same pattern of networks. It is a streamed video so needs broadband to view. It is available for download by anyone in Australia. Can anyone help out???

http://www.sciencenews.org/view/feature/id/37406/title/Body_In_Mind This is an interesting atricle about a robot called Leo that can learn without being programmed to do some pretty amamzing human like things and may tell us lots about

Great video clip about attention This is really surprising and great fun.

Emerald told me about Stumble Upon, where you enter an area of interest and it  brings up sites about your topic at random. It can often come up with sites you wouldn't find through google.

Complexity Digest is a great weekly email digest with information about up to date research into complexity. Follow the link where you can get on the email list.

Some video clips about Spiral Dynamics  http://www.youtube.com/user/IntegralNeri

The Genographic Project

The Genographic Project is a project run by National Geographic. They want to collect DNA from 100,000 people all around the globe and using genetic markers to trace the migrations of all people all the way back to Africa. They can trace your male line through the Y chromosome and the female line through mitichondrial DNA. I have sent away a DNA sample to get my male side traced and then I will look at my female line.
