Meery ChristmasWelcome

December is a quieter month.  I have submitted my application to start my PhD and becoming more focused in my study now I have  specific things to work on. I am working on getting a better background in the research methods I will be using grounded theory and causal layered analysis.

Victor in SydneyWe had a one day trip to Sydney, leaving at 4.30am and getting home at midnight. We had the meeting we went for near Circular Quay, so we had a walk around there at lunchtime.

Next month  I go to Brisbane for the national convention of the Theosophical Society in Australia and present a workshop entitled "Complexity Theory: Science meets spirituality?" and then go to the sunshine coast to meet my PhD supervisor.

Yaneer Bar Yam from the New England Complex Systems Institute wrote a piece about how some of the decisions of the banks and financial players have  led to the financial instability in the US. He writes in support of the Wall Street occupiers provide some solid research to back up some of the things they are saying.

How is this for a modern day nativity story

I have started up a facebook and twitter page for my coming book, Gonna Lay Down my Sword and Shield and here is my personal facebook page.
I need to get used to them before they will be fully active.

Books I read this month

IllusionsIllusions: The adventures of a reluctant messiah by Richard Bach

This book was sent to me I had never got around to reading. It is a great simple story with  messages we can use in our daily lives.

different drumThe Different Drum

M Scott Peck

I was sent a copy of this book I read years ago. It is easy to read with lots of good stories of the autjhor's life and the communities he has been a part of.

grounded theoryGrounded Theory byAnthony Bryant and Kathy Charmaz

This is a very full text about grounded theory used a lot especially for qualitative research. Barney Glaser and Anselm Strauss first developed grounded theory. Then they disgareed how grounded theory should be conducted.  They each developed their own versions. Then Kathy Charmaz, one of their students, developed her own version too with Anthony Bryant. I need to read all three versions and figure out how I will approach using grounded theory.
